🔊New Year's Chapel 2024/25: Theological and Biblical Advice and Reflections for a Fulfilling New Year 2025!

Hello, dear students and friends from the various schools of America Academics Reformed Baptist Theological Institute. As we close 2024 and begin 2025, I want to invite you to pause for a moment and reflect on what truly matters in our lives and our faith. I’ll be brief and to the point in this final article of 2024. This is a summary of the advice and reflections from the video you’re about to watch or listen to:

Remember the True Gospel

Don’t let the message of Christ’s birth be reserved only for Christmas. Every day is an opportunity to reflect on and share the gospel, the greatest gift we’ve received: Christ, God Himself, became human like you and me to represent us before God the Father, and 33 years later, He died for our sins. Let’s take this new year as a chance to reflect on our personal lives, recognize where we can improve, and commit to living holier lives with Christ and sharing the gospel with others.

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:11)

Christ’s birth is not just a historical event; it is the manifestation of God’s love to save us through Christ. Every day, not just in December, we should remember God’s love for us. Reflect on how you can be a light to those who have yet to know the true gospel.

The Importance of Doctrine and Salvation

A solid faith is built on a good understanding of God’s Word. Salvation doesn’t depend on our efforts but on God’s work in us. This reminds us that our relationship with Him must be genuine, not just a routine or tradition. Attending church is important, but it doesn’t guarantee salvation; we need a personal encounter with Christ that transforms our lives. Often, time and spiritual fatigue can lead us to forms of spirituality that become a kind of mechanical religiosity.

"For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9)

Salvation doesn’t depend on what we do but on what God has done for us in Christ. This frees us from the burden of trying to "earn" God’s favor and invites us to rest in His grace, with a deep sense of gratitude. This year, dive deeper into His Word, not just to learn but to live with a clearer understanding of who God is and what it means to be saved.

Living to Please God

The new year gives us a perfect opportunity to evaluate how we’re living. Are we striving to live in a way that pleases God in everything we do? Beyond material achievements, what truly matters is our spiritual growth and our relationship with Him. This is a good time to remember that life is temporary and that we must prepare for eternity.

"Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established." (Proverbs 16:3)

Living to please God doesn’t mean striving for perfection but depending on His guidance in every decision. Ask yourself: Am I prioritizing my relationship with God above all else? This new year is an opportunity to realign your priorities, seek holiness, and remember that our earthly life is fleeting, but what we do for His glory has eternal value.

At America Academics, our desire is to help you not only grow in knowledge but also strengthen your faith and purpose in Christ through education rooted in a biblical Christian identity. This year, as you study and serve, remember that your highest calling is to glorify God and live for Him.

May 2025 be a year full of blessings, learning, and opportunities to draw closer to God. May His love, grace, and truth guide you in every step you take.

Happy New Year 2025!

Lovingly in Christ,

Dr. Julio C. Salas, DEdMin, MDiv, MSIS
